New album Here We Are Now out now on Audiobulb Records

January 5th, 2022

Here We Are Now is an exploration of the present moment and the impermanent nature of existence. Sounds and melodies form and unfurl before dissolving and morphing into something else, with no particular purpose other than to pass through time from one moment to the next. The shapes and sounds of nature, various eastern philosophies, the writing of Fernando Pessoa and the art of Georgia O’Keeffe all provided additional inspiration. It’s my first work using a modular synth set up, which helped me work in broader strokes with less emphasis on decision making.

The album is dedicated to my dear old cat Loley, who passed during its making.

Thanks to David Newman at Audiobulb, Seán Mac Erlaine for the mastering, Úna for additional encouragement and focus, all my friends and family. JB January 2022.

Ghost Of A Bird Ep

January 5th, 2022

These were two tracks that I recorded around 2008 which never found a home, so I gave them their own release as I think they compliment each other well. Ghost Of A Bird was made in response to an injured starling which I found in my garden, which sadly I couldn’t bring back to health. It features a contact mic recording of a bird feeding. Sleeping Ships aims to capture a soundworld which presides in those moments between wakefulness and sleep, where sounds can be real, imagined or maybe both. JB October 2021.
